NFL Championship Showcase Showdown

The San Diego Chargers and New York Giants won in thrillers that came down to the final minutes in what was supposed to be a showdown between Peyton Manning & Tom Brady and Tony Romo and Brett Favre. The Chargers and Giants obviously had other plans. San Diego won 28-24 and the Giants 21-17.

The Chargers won with Tomlinson missing time in the second half and Rivers injury giving way for back up Billy Volek to lead the way to the AFC Championship. Peyton threw for over 400 yards in a phenomenal game. It appears the other Manning will be planning in a championship game. Eli managed an efficient game down to the wire as the Giants Defense held up to win the game in a dominant defensive fashion as Romo saw the Dallas turf as he was constantly pressured.

Home field now shifts to Lambeau Field for the NFC. The script is almost complete for Favre to head back to the Super Bowl and stand before the Pats perfect season. The cast is almost complete and if anything can be learned from today's games is that anything can happen once the game begins. It should make for a wild ride in an entertaining season

Favre is great. I could only like him more if he were a Redskin. That set, I'm rooting for him to win the Superbowl. Sorry, no offense to our good friend Stu, but 19-0 doesn't live up the legend where the Gunslinger rides off in the sunset with a Superbowl win. Can you imagine if he does win it and is MVP? A Disney-esque commercial...

Disney workslave: Brett, Brett, you just won the Superbowl. What are you going to do next?
Favre: I've been there done that. I'm RETIRING!!!

OK, maybe I'm jumping the gun a bit. Predictions...

GB 38, NY 35. Favre wins in in Favre tradition in a comeback last minute drive while trailing 35-31.

NE 42, SD 21. Norv somehow gets his team to lead 14-7 at the end of the first. But NE shoots back, leading 28-14 at half. They let SD score another time early in the 3rd just to blow them out with two more touchdowns. Boring 4th.
