"21" the movie adaptation of Bringing Down the House about a group of MIT students taking down casinos in black jack for millions of dollars should score big in the box office. The recent explosion of poker on tv and in movies has even spawned a black jack tv show. The thirst for the quick fix and gambling bug should have this movie raking it in with a solid story and stellar performances by Lawrence Fishbourne and Kevin Spacey.
The gripping and mesmerizing story loses much in the adaptation. Those that read the book may feel disappointed that the rival MIT team didn't even make it into the big screen. Certain changes were made to Mickey's character to an even more course persona. Those that haven't read the book can still enjoy a good Hollywood formulaic movie and see Fishbourne steal the show. It's great to see Kevin Spacey in a movie again. At the end of the movie you'll see Spacey get into a car and for an instance you almost want to reminisce and ask "Who is Kaiser Sose?!" Now that’s a great movie!
