Nationals Break In New Park With a "W"

From the pre-game festivities to the nationally televised game on ESPN, the Nationals from top to bottom delivered the goods. Channel 7 and ESPN's pregame showcased the stadium, it's view, and all it's emenities. The only thing left to accomplish in their new ball park was to bring home a win and that they did in a dramatic walk off home run by Ryan Zimmerman in the bottom of the 9th for a 3-2 victory.

The Nationals started the first inning by touching up Hudson for two unearned runs. It also marked the return of a (much lighter) Nick Johnson. Cristian Guzman batted lead off and delivered the first hit at Nationals Park. Nick Johnson had a cracked at bat that he stretched into a double and drove in Guzman after an error on Hudson with a wild throw to first placed Guzman at third. Kearns than drove home Johnson. Chipper Jones later hit the first home run in the new ball park to make the score 2-1.

The game was a resounding success for an emerging Nationals team in a new ball park. The food looked great, the President threw some high heat to Acta for the for the first pitch, and a dramatic game winning home run for a win sets a nice taste in everyone's mouth to start the season.
