Bryant Gumbel Has Left the Building

Yes, everyone, rejoice. The great national nightmare is over after 2 long years. Bryant Gumbel has resigned from broadcasting duties at the NFL Network. Thanks to my Wii game system from giving me the early word on this.

As my friends and colleagues have discussed, we all share the same viewpoint...Should have happened 2 years ago. I'm not sure there are words to describe how this Gumbel broadcasted. Possibly because some of us turned down the sound and had the memories fade away from our minds. I have had the NFL Network since before they started broadcasting games and I think I watched one game with him broadcasting. I found that what was on my iPod, be it classical, rock, or country, was better than listening to him.

To be fair, I never found him annoying on the Today Show. And "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" might be the best sports based news show on television (sorry HBO, I know you don't consider yourselves TV). But he never seemed to fit in the booth, even with Chris Collinsworth at his side.

BMT, as you know I agree. The real question is after one season who thought he was so great to return?

Last year I listened to the feed on Dan Snyder radio online for the Skins game. I called BMT & Q at the game and they said you can stand listening to the delay and I said it's better than listening to Bryant Gumbel.

For all readers out there, we bumped into two cool sports fans at Matchbox after the Caps game and they weren't fans of Gumbel calling games either.
