Mock Draft: St. Louis Rams

To continue our own mock draft, rotating the picks among the bloggers the St. Louis Rams are on the clock now with the 2nd Pick in the draft.

2nd Pick: Chris Long, DE Virginia
With an aging core of wide receivers, a defense that ranked 21st overall, an offense that ranked 24th overall last year, and Orlando Pace who's also seen many NFL seasons in the rear view mirror the St. Louis Rams found themselves in a state of flux in 2007. This landed them the 2nd overall pick in the draft. They have many needs, but Jake Long would have proved vital to resurrecting the greatest show on turf by eating up would be pass rushers and punishing defensive lineman creating gaping holes for Steven Jackson to run through and allowing time for Bulger to throw.

Unfortunately, Miami has taken Jake Long. St. Louis could also use help along the defensive line. For a team that needs an impact player, it's time to go Long - Chris Long that is. He's the safe and steady pick. He can play both the run and pass effectively and come up with big plays. Dorsey's health concerns may have him slipping in the draft. St. Louis will most likely go with the flow of conventional wisdom and allow Dorsey to slide at least one more slot if not more.

With the Rams taking Chris Long, Atlanta is now on the clock for the 3rd pick in the draft.
