How many talking heads is enough for an NFL show? Apparently eight IS enough on NBC. Roll call on NBC places Olbermann, Patrick, Costas, Bettis, Barber, King, Collinsworth, and Millen all on football night in America. It's a painful program to watch and is less entertaining and informative than any other network. How many different diagnoses of a single game can warrant this many broadcasters and analysts? This came to the attention of BMT and I as we watched the playoff games on NBC. Other network are broadcasting and covering multiple games in progress while NBC has only one game to cover. They may have highlights of the earlier games but eight talking heads is excessive.
It appears acceptable for NBC to pay for so many talking heads that most football fans could care less to hear from or receive better analysis from other networks and not really increase their revenue stream from these contracts. Yet for a small local program such as Redskins Report or Full Court Press that makes money due to the excellent coverage of its broadcasters, the network determined it wasn't worth producing anymore. As DCRTV first reported the end of George Michaels shows, the decisions NBC makes with regards to spending seem most perplexing.

Each talking head has some sort of good insight, except for one. Matt Millen destroyed the Lions, so we now are supposed to trust his knowledge on the matchups in the playoffs? His team didn't sniff the playoffs.
