NFL Conference Championship Hosts

What has been the NFL team with the worst regular season record to host a conference championship game? I don’t know the answer for certain, but I have a good guess: this season’s Arizona Cardinals with a regular season record of 9-7.

Doing a little research I found the 1979 Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosted a conference championship game with a 10-6 record, but no team has hosted a conference championship game with a 9-7 record.

I thought about that too. Would the 8-7-1 Eagles have been worse going to the Super Bowl? I think so from a record perspective. Ahh, remember the good old dynasties of the 70s and 80s. There were great teams playing each other with the rivalries heating up in the playoffs. The closest thing we've really had has been Colts/Patriots.

Although the Eagles/Cardinals game was great, I think everyone is looking at the Ravens/Steelers game.

Ravens/Steelers was by far the "better' game, although I throughly enjoyed the Cards/Eagles, especially the first half.
